Our client, a global leader in the manufacture of high-speed electronic cables, connectivity products and components is seeking a technical sales executive to lead sales within the Americas. The Americas Division has approximately $900M in annual sales. Reporting to the President, Americas the Vice President will manage a geographically diverse group of approximately 100 sales employees. Direct reports include: Director, Sales and Channel Management; Director, US Sales; Director, Government Programs; Canadian Region Sales Manager; Region Manager, Latin America; and North American Sales Operations and Logistics Manager. Approximately 80% of the Americas Division's sales and through distributors. The Vice President will focus on increasing sales volume and market share through traditional distributor/reseller channels and through direct sales to OEM's. Specifically, s/he will perform strategic sale planning, maintain visibility and credibility with large distributors (Graybar, Anixter, Arrow, etc.), develop long term relationships with key customer and provide customer feedback to marketing, engineering, and product development teams. An objective of the Vice President is to manage the sales force through the development of more refined performance metrics. The position requires a technical undergraduate degree. An advanced technical degree or MBA is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 or more years overall business experience with a mimimum of 5 years leading a multi-geographic sales organization selling cables, structured cabling systems, electronic interconnects, electronic components and related devices. Moreover, s/he will have managed a sales organization selling primarily through indirect channels. The ideal candidate will also have experience working within a “matrixed” environment that included the functions of marketing, manufacturing, engineering and finance.
